Women in the CFS 

 

IT'S NOT JUST FOR MEN!

Today women make up about 8% of active firefighters in the SA Country Fire Service and the number of women members is increasing. Many women currently hold senior positions within CFS brigades.

The CFS provides comprehensive training in all the roles and functions that volunteers perform.

You will have access to Stress Prevention and management, which include areas of family support. The SA Volunteer Fire Brigades Association is integral to your support as it exists to promote and protect what is in the best interests of CFS volunteers.

Your CFS brigade is comprised of volunteers from within the community so the support structure is based on family life.

We appreciate the commitment volunteers make to the organisation, so to minimise disruption to volunteers' family and work commitments, meetings and training are held out of working hours.

Once you have experienced the personal development and feeling of achievement CFS can provide along with the social network and respect gained, you will appreciate why women volunteers are playing such a significant role in the future of the CFS.
