Gary Brock

For the first five years of his involvement Gary fought fires and assisted at motor car accidents.

He currently works as a radio operator and runs the Incident Control Centre in Gumeracha with Keith Leckenby which is the base for all of GCFS’ eight brigades. He coordinates weekly radio checks during the fire season and fortnightly checks in the off-season.

Gary, along with other members of GCFS is virtually on call all the time though as he carries a pager and his phone is on a partyline system so when an incident happens no matter what time of day or night Gary knows about it.

Gary is motivated to volunteer for GCFS to support the community and make sure the service is there for the people who need it because if no one does it the service won’t be there.
